East Columbus Neighborhood Advocate Looking at Farmers Markets to Help Reduce Crime

Wednesday, June 02nd, 2021

The president of the Pinecrest Civic Association called herself a glorified copycat as she took notes at Whitehall’s first Market on the Green event this season.

Sharon Pantelis is attempting to better her east Columbus neighborhood. In an interview, she said that she’s inspired by how the City of Whitehall took a blighted area at the corner of Broad Street and Hamilton Road and made it into a destination spot for its new urban farmers market. Every Tuesday, the city is offering games, produce and live music at the neighborhood event. With the help of corporate sponsors, Pantelis wants to bring something similar to the corner of Hamilton and East Livingston Avenue.
